INSTANCE developer stumped by problems with Instagram
UPDATE: Check out the story on the Verge about Instagram and Instance for updates on the whole issue. According to the article, the blockage of posts from non-official apps is in response to a spam attack. Daniel doesn’t seem too insulted by this and is continuing to work on the solution.
If you’re an instagram user on a Window’s Phone using one of the many unofficial Instagram clients for Windows, you might have noticed your photos being deleted as soon as you post them up. I started noticing this happen to me about 2 pm PST time yesterday, July 29th, along with a security issue where Facebook would flag my account as spam when I tried to post. This latter problem was reported to Instance developer Daniel Gary as early as four days ago. Gary fixed this in an update yesterday, the same day that the Instagram photo deletion issue became a more recognizable problem.
Daniel Gary and Rudy Huyn (developer of WIP 6tagram) bantered for hours over twitter while working on their respective instagram clients, but Daniel turned in at the end of the night no closer to getting anything patched up. Has Instagram finally beat the unofficial uploads?
